Ms. Maureen Gaffney Wolfson, American Artist of The Year ’83 is mounting her 1st European Exhibition titled “Coming Home” at the O’Carolan Harp & Traditional Music Festival, Keadue,Boyle, County Roscommon.

This Major Art Exhibition is regarded as a welcome new development for O’Carolan Harp & Traditional Music Festival as Maureen has previously exhibited her Art in The Bronx Museum of Art, New York and at The Kennedy Centre, Washington D.C.

Over thirty three years ago Ms. Gaffney Wolfson began painting as a recreation, “it gave me a means by which to express myself,” explained Maureen, which also helped me to relax. Maureen paints in oil using the renaissance technique of glazing .The finished painting evolves from an elaborate structure of super imposed layers of colour and glaze which imparts a unique depth and luminosity. Ms. Gaffney Wolfson has gained celebrity and recognition as a model, actress and singer. In 1963 Maureen got her first Television break on ‘The Red Skelton Show”. This break brought her to other major T.V. shows and she was a regular on “Perry Mason with Raymond Burr, ‘The Danny Kaye Show” and ‘The Tonight Show”. From Television she quickly moved into movie roles appearing in “A Swinging Summer’ with Racquel Welch, “Harlow” with Carol Lynley & Efrem Zimbalist Jun.

Five years ago Maureen and her Lawyer Husband Steve Wolfson visited Ireland and Maureen traced her roots to Crosshill, Keadue when she located the Gaffney Homestead.

Maureen’s Grandfather was born at Crosshill, Keadue and Emigrated to U.S.A. where Maureen’s father was born.

The Art Exhibition will be opened on Sunday 2nd.August at 4.30p.m. in Keadue Hall and will run for the duration of the Festival.
