A few years ago California artist Maureen Gaffney Wolfson stayed at Barnsley Gardens. She was so inspired by the beauty of her surroundings that for two years she has been creating oil paintings depicting scenes from the Northwest Georgia resort.
“She fell in love with the landscape and architecture,” said Barnsley Gardens Resort Marketing Manager Kathy Glen. “And for two years she’s been painting these beautiful images of Barnsley Gardens.” On Saturday the resort will host an exhibit of 22 of those paintings. The pieces include such titles as “Fountain of Joy,” “View from the Hill,” “Barnsley Barn in Autumn.” and “Along the Way.” “There are scenes of still life, the flowers and different scenes from the grounds,” Glen said. “And there are also little corners and hidden nooks that not a lot of people get to see.
She really captures the essence and beauty of Barnsley Gardens.” An artist’s reception is scheduled for Saturday. Cocktails will be served from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the Beer Garden and a reception follows from 6 to 9 p.m. in Town Hall with complimentary cocktails and light hors d’eouvres. The show will be on exhibition indefinitely. Visit www.maureengaffney-wolfson.com to learn more about Maureen Gaffney Wolfson and her work.
